Band Night Tradition Continues
October 14, 2013, Fort Dodge, IA- The Fort Dodge Community Schools will be holding its 13th annual “Band Night” on Friday, October, 18, during the varsity football game which begins at 7 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. Seventh and eighth grade band students from Fort Dodge Middle School will join with the Fort Dodge Senior High Marching Band to perform at halftime of the game.
“This event involves over 230 Fort Dodge students,” said Al Paulson, Fort Dodge Senior High Band Director. “It’s a wonderful experience for the kids.”
Music selections will include “Dynomite” and “Party Rock Anthem” during the half-time show on the field. At the conclusion of half-time the bands will play “Up Fort Dodgers,” the Fort Dodge fight song.
According to Paulson, the bands work on the music and field placement separately until the day of the performance. The day of the performance the bands have one opportunity to practice as a full group prior to the performance that night.
“It’s pretty amazing how it all comes together with only one practice as a whole group,” stated Paulson. “The kids really do work hard and are able to put on a fantastic performance at the ballgame.”
